Seminis

Seminis, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Monsanto Co., with operations in Tifton, Georgia, is the largest developer, grower and marketer of fruit and vegetable seeds in the world. The company’s hybrids are designed to improve nutrition, boost crop yields, limit spoilage and reduce the need for chemicals. With 51 research stations in 17 countries, the company invests some 10 percent of its annual seed revenue in improving fruits and vegetable and has programs that cover a wide range of regions and climates.

Nature of GRA support: Seminis has collaboration with GRA Eminent Scholar Steve Knapp at the University of Georgia on genetic technologies for hybrid seed production in watermelon through a GRA Technology Partnership.
